Full of energy and creativity, a young woman from Hudson embarked on a bold entrepreneurial journey. After managing the Christmas shop in the village for many years, Alena decided to start a Christmas shop of her own. That first season was a great success, and the store opened under the name Hollandia’s Country Christmas Shop. Not long after, it was clear that the boutique had the potential to be a year round destination and “Alena Kirby” as we know it, came to be. In that modest space under the windmill, the AK family was born. What started as a pet project, slowly turned into a career, a lifestyle and a partnership, as husband Stan and daughter Christine joined on. For Alena, the AK family is the “raison d’ être” of the boutique, and is composed of the most unbelievable staff and loyal clientele. “A family is made up of people you cherish, and share your life with. I’m lucky enough to have two families that intertwine.”
